Join James Manke, Eiichi Ito and Jaime Sharp on a world class Greenland skills paddling expedition in Clayoqout Sound BC Canada.
Launching from the fishing village of Tofino on the west coast of Vancouver Island, we will enjoy four nights of enchanting discovery as we paddle the inlets and waterways of magical Clayoquot Sound.
Days will be spent learning and applying Greenland Paddling skills as we explore and journey around Vargas Island. This Journey will allow participants to learn and apply skills in varying water conditions, from calm inside passages, Currents, open ocean swell, and surf landings and play.
Camp on gorgeous deserted sand beaches, watch the sun go down, then enjoy a cozy campfire with a canopy of stars like you've never seen before. The trip is fully catered, breakfast lunch and dinner (except first and last day there will only be some meals provided). Bring your own Kayak and Camping gear, or rent from WildHeart (we have various Greenland style expedition kayaks, and full camping set ups).
Coaching will be provided by world class Greenland Instructors and Coaches, James Manke and Eiichi Ito, and assisted by world class expedition paddler and Guide/Coach Jaime Sharp. Skills classes will Include:
- efficient forward stroke
- Dynamic and sheltered rolling
- Surf technique
- rock gardening.
Our instructional journey will lead us through a timeless land of virgin Giant Cedar and Sitka Spruce rain forests, hidden lagoons teeming with brightly coloured sea-life and miles and miles of deserted sand beaches. As well as seals, deer, otters, porpoises, wolves and eagles, a resident population of Grey whales inhabit the Sound from early Spring till Fall and chance encounters with these magnificent giants are an exhilarating and memorable experience.
